February and March have been filled with many exciting and some challenging days. The four district meetings have been outstanding and well attended. The District Directors have shown they are outstanding leaders, brilliant organizers and committed Delta Kappa Gamma members. Each brought her personality to light through the setting, activities and programming provided the attendees. Thank you, Ladies.
What a success the basket raffles have been at the district meetings! Each chapter went above and beyond to produce baskets which were so appealing that ticket sales have been very good and each district has contributed handily to the funds for Florida Night of the 2013 Southeast Regional Conference. If you were unable to attend your district meeting and wish to help with this special event, you may send a contribution designated for Florida Night directly to Myra Ponder. We, as Florida hostesses, wish to make this occasion most memorable for the attendees from our 10 neighboring southeast states. (See pictures of each District Meeting posted on our website.)
Four Florida members (Sandy Byars, Carrie Frye, Ann Ottaviano, Grace Wilhelm) attended the National Legislative Seminar in Washington, DC, this month. Much was accomplished during our day on “The Hill”. You will hear the reporting of this experience at the Fall Executive Board Meeting, September 15, 2012. Please be there.
Visiting chapters around the state continues to be an exciting venture for me. My heart is warmed by your hospitality and I am overjoyed with the projects they you are successfully accomplishing. Most importantly, I am deeply appreciative of those members in struggling chapters who have stepped up to serve as an officer. The quote I used above is dedicated to you. Thank you for your dedication. I know that each of you will work to revitalize and grow your chapter. Don’t forget to call on your district director or any officer to assist you. I will be there in a heartbeat!
One particularly exciting chapter visit was to attend the 75th Birthday Celebration of Delta Chapter in Gainesville. This chapter has a very rich history with the distinct honor of having had two state presidents and, due to its continuous growth, has spawned four additional chapters over the years. We hope to share more about this chapter at Fall Workshop. Below are photographs of Delta Chapter's Birthday Celebration.
Please consider joining us in NYC this July. Even though it appears to be costly on paper, this is a wonderful time to share the city with special friends from the state and around the world at a greatly discounted hotel price. If you are interested in attending, but need a roommate/s, get a message to me. Let’s be there to learn, to grow, to enjoy fellowship, to have fun in the Big Apple and to support OUR Dr. Beverly Helms.
