Florida DKG Fall Workshop 2 Minute Committee Report
It is with a heavy heart that I present this report on behalf of Myrna Santos, former chair of World Fellowship Committee, who died on May 6, 2020 after fighting COVID-19. Myrna believed it is because of YOU, the members of Delta Kappa Gamma, that women of non-member countries have an opportunity to engage in graduate studies while living in the United States and Canada. It was the culmination of our founders' vision for an organization of key women educators assisting other learned women in far-away lands to become future leaders.
A compelling vision alone will not make a woman a leader. Just because a woman has vision and occupies a leadership position does not necessarily mean she will have an opportunity to effectively impact the lives of others. She needs education to ignite that vision and empower her leadership qualities.
The gift of an excellent education is like being given the key to the future! It opens the door to knowledge, and from this knowledge comes power and the opportunity to develop further one’s gifts. The recipients of the World Fellowship Scholarship bring this power home, thus ensuring the hope of a better standard of living for all those who will interact with her.
DKG members’ donations to World Fellowship can make these dreams possible; your support will empower her, so she effectively impacts the lives of the people in her community in her home country through her vision and leadership.
In 2019-20, 29 World Fellowship Scholarships were awarded: 19 Full Awards, and 10 Extension Scholarships. Your support of World Fellowship is entirely voluntary... No money collected for DKG dues is allotted for this purpose. Individuals and chapters can achieve platinum, gold or silver awards for different levels of giving. Please help us to continue igniting the visions of women educators by empowering women educators everywhere! In memory of Myrna Santos, please consider supporting World Fellowship Scholarships and further support women educators everywhere.

Committee Responsibilities and Duties:
The World Fellowship Committee grants funding for women who are already Fulbright scholars and wish to pursue their education in the United States or Canada in order to acquire the knowledge necessary to achieve greater heights in their chosen profession. We want to see women from all nations reach their optimal levels of education, which in turn will lead to each of them achieving their goals. A feeling of fulfillment will follow them as they return to their home countries, as they attempt to enlighten others, as they bring about a comfortable and sustainable way of life for themselves and their families. Every person whose life they touch will have been enriched by these scholars’ presence, their knowledge, and the realization that one’s dreams can come true… These women’s accomplishments give others the gift of hope for a better world. Their hopes and dreams are the advent of their journey, and they are also sustained by this scholarship achievement to continue on when the going gets rough! All this is possible only because DKG’s “key women educators” have helped to make this happen!
